The Opioid Crisis

The objective of this motion graphic piece was to provide insight into the deadly drug epidemic that has plagued the United States, while also highlighting the resources available to those struggling with addiction. The subject matter is inherently grim, which presented a challenge in terms of creating an approachable design aesthetic. To overcome this challenge, a paper cut-out technique was employed within After Effects, accompanied by bright colors, resulting in an inviting and engaging visual experience. Given the amount of information that needed to be conveyed, it was essential to find a balance between the use of type and voiceover. To achieve this, a voiceover specialist was enlisted to provide a compelling narrative, which complemented the visual storytelling. Overall, the combination of design and storytelling effectively communicates a complex issue and highlights resources for those in need.

This project was created for my senior graphic design capstone and has no affiliation with SAMHSA.
